Braj is more than a place. It is a sacred land deeply connected to the life and legacy of Shri Krishna. But today, its forests, kunds, water bodies and natural environment are facing serious challenges. The Braj Vaibhav Abhiyan is an effort to restore the ecological and spiritual heritage of Braj, covering Mathura, Vrindavan, Govardhan and Barsana. Through scientific reforestation, restoration of sacred water bodies, rainwater harvesting and community-led seva, the initiative aims to bring new life to the sacred landscape of Braj. Several historic kunds, including Govind Kund, Gandharva Kund and Surabh Kund, are being restored through efforts such as desilting, stopping sewage inflow, bioremediation and repairing surrounding ghats. The initiative also includes an eco-friendly 7 km inner parikrama path around Govardhan, extensive rainwater harvesting, native tree plantation and the restoration of ancient sacred forests. But restoring Braj is not only about restoring land and water. It is about restoring our relationship with the sacred. Millions come to Braj seeking blessings. Now, we have an opportunity to give something back.
