Janani Award, instituted by the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam International Foundation, was presented to Amma

On the 11th Remembrance Day of Bharat Ratna Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam (The 11th President of India) the inaugural Janani Award, instituted by the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam International Foundation, was presented to Amma at Amritapuri. The award recognises Amma's extraordinary contributions to humanitarian service, social transformation and women's empowerment, reflecting the ideals of compassion, humility and selfless service that Dr. Kalam championed throughout his life. Receiving the award, Amma paid tribute to Dr. Kalam's life of humility and service, saying: “He was a brilliant scientist, a philosopher, a visionary, an artist, a patriot, a writer, and a poet. However, none of these are what made Shri Abdul Kalam unique, extraordinary and unforgettable. It was his humility and love. Even after reaching great heights and holding esteemed positions, his attitude of ‘I am nothing’ won over everyone.” The award was presented by Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, Hon'ble Governor of Keralam & Tamil Nadu. During the ceremony, the Governor also unveiled the official poster of "Kalam's Angel," an AI-assisted inspirational film inspired by Dr. Kalam's vision and values, and inaugurated Janani 2026, a nationwide women's empowerment initiative. Dr. A.P.J.M. Naseema Marakkar, Chairperson of the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam International Foundation and Dr. Kalam's niece, said: “He often reminded us that the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others. These ideals are beautifully reflected in the extraordinary humanitarian work carried out by Mata Amritanandamayi Devi.” . . . #Amma #Amrita #MataAmritanandamayiDevi #AbdulKalam #Janani
